RE-EVOLUTION · THE EARTH CALLS, FASHION RESPONDS

A WEEK DEDICATED TO SUSTAINABILITY

There have been many online events aimed at celebrating the protection of our planet earth and remembering how precious it is, how we can and must defend it. Today is Fashion Revolution Day, a day in memory of the biggest accident in the history of the textile industry in 2013 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where the collapse of a factory caused 1,125 victims among operators, lighting a beacon on inhuman conditions where fashion workers are still too often forced to work.

Fashion Revolution "wants to be the first step towards becoming aware of what it means to buy a piece of clothing, towards a more ethical and sustainable future for the fashion industry, with respect for people and the environment - comments in a note Marina Spadafora, coordinator of the Fashion Revolution Day Italia - Choosing what we buy can create the world we want: each of us has the power to change things for the better and every moment is good to start doing it." A global collective action to ask the fashion industry to assume its responsibilities in terms of environmental and social injustices, and which this year will ask for changes in the production chain of garments to eliminate waste, the pollution and exploitation in the sector.

Hot topics also in high fashion, especially after Giorgio Armani - in his letter to the American newspaper WWD and rebounded in many newspapers around the world - defined the fashion system "immoral", entrusting the newspaper with a series of reflections on how "absurd the current state of affairs is, with overproduction of  garments and a criminal non-alignment between weather season and commercial season. He added, "it takes time to appreciate something, whether it's a person or an object. I've always believed in the concept of timeless elegance. It is not only an aesthetic code, but also a method of making clothing which, in turn, suggests a precise way of purchasing it. And that is, to make it last." Strong and true words, which remind us once again that we cannot think only about profit, fashion must slow down if it wants to start again, and go back to being human.

Trend Forecasters also strongly support this sustainable fashion trend, seeing today their forecasts that industry must slow down and high fashion brands and beyond must have more than one individual voice.
With the Covid-19 pandemic going on, everyone wants to know what will happen next.
According to the forecasts, the brands will have an increasingly tenderless and seasonless approach, that is, they will try to have an ever stronger brand identity so as not to have to follow the seasonal trends and the seasons themselves, a concept that many brands are already pursuing. Those who can grasp this sustainable change will survive.

When Regenesi start over 12 years ago to talk about regeneration of material, waste recovery, waste reduction by proposing innovative projects, these themes were experienced as distant or at least insignificant.
Since birth, we believe that the pleasure of fashion and design must be combined with an ethical and sustainable approach to production; for us 100% style, 100% regenerated and 100% made in Italy is a way of being even before a pay off.
